Hartford Police Department Marine Unit Lieutenant Brian Foley, Commander The Marine Unit's primary function is to enforce the laws and ensure the safety of all, on Hartford's waterways. The Marine Unit is on patrol as needed and are available to assist in water search and rescue efforts regionally. They patrol when the waterways are busy, during activities such as fishing tournaments and riverboat races, and on designated days, such as the 4th of July.  The Marine Unit is poised to expand as riverfront development attracts more visitors and has more year round activities.
