HARTFORD POLICE CONFIRM IDENTITY OF FATAL SHOOTING VICTIM

(Hartford, CT.) - Police Chief James C. Rovella today announced detectives of the HPD's Major Crimes Division have confirmed the identity of a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday, October 20, 2012, as Shane Oliver, 20, of Hartford.

Hartford Police responded to a report of  serious assault with a firearm at approximately 4:11 p.m., in the vicinity of 54 South Prospect Street on Saturday.   On arrival, the victim was located suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 6:16 p.m.   The HPD's Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions are investigating the homicide.
