NEWS HARTFORD POLICE CONFIRM IDENTITY OF FATAL SHOOTING VICTIM (Hartford, CT.) - Police Chief James C. Rovella today announced detectives of the HPD's Major Crimes Division have confirmed the identity of a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday, October 20, 2012, as Shane Oliver, 20, of Hartford. Hartford Police responded to a report of serious assault with a firearm at approximately 4:11 p.m., in the vicinity of 54 South Prospect Street on Saturday. On arrival, the victim was located suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 6:16 p.m. The HPD's Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions are investigating the homicide. Anyone with information, no matter how slight, that may be of assistance to the investigation, is asked to contact Lt.
