HARTFORD POLICE CHARGE THREE WITH FELONY MURDER 

(Hartford) -  Mayor Pedro E. Segarra and Hartford Police Chief James C. Rovella today announced detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division have charged three suspects in connection with the March 8, 2012, fatal shooting of Rhaquis Grant, 21, that occurred at 608 Garden Street, Hartford.

 

Corey Mapp, DOB 9/23/1985, of 68 Taylor Drive, Hartford, is charged with felony murder, home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, first degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first degree robbery, carrying a pistol without a permit and first degree assault.  He remains in custody on a $1 million bond pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court. 

 

Craig Johnson, DOB 2/8/1985, of 924 Garden Street, Hartford, is charged with felony murder, home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, first degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first degree robbery, carrying a pistol without a permit and criminal possession of a pistol.  Johnson remains in custody on a $2 million Judge set bond pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court.

 

Chad Adger, 12/03/1990, of 50 Burton Street, Hartford, currently in custody on unrelated charges, will be charged with murder, felony murder, and home invasion.  He has a Judge set $2 million bond pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court. 

 

Hartford Police Chief James C. Rovella commended Major Crimes Detectives Reginald Early and Richard Salkeld for their successful investigation, "The thoroughness and perseverance exhibited by these skilled investigators has resulted in the removal of three violently dangerous individuals from our streets."

 

Mayor Pedro E. Segarra also commended all those involved in the investigation and apprehension of the three suspects, "Once again, the excellent collaboration of the Hartford Shooting Task Force, Fugitive Task Force, Intelligence, Crime Scene and Major Crimes Divisions, has resulted in the successful apprehension of violent suspects who will now be held accountable for their actions."

 

On March 8, 2012, at approximately 8:10 p.m., officers responded to the area of 608 Garden Street on a report of shots fired.  On arrival, officers located Rhaquis Grant, 21, of Hartford, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  He was immediately transported by EMS to St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 11:00 p.m.  A second shooting victim was treated and released.
