Hartford Police Officer Struck by Fleeing Vehicle
(Hartford) - At a press briefing this morning at Hartford Police Headquarters, Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts reported that the Hartford police officer struck by a suspect vehicle last night was in stable condition under observation at Hartford Hospital.
The officer was struck by a 2008 tan Dodge Charger, CT registration 900WYO, at approximately 11:55 p.m. last night in the vicinity of 144 Kent Street. The vehicle, believed operated by a light complexioned Black male in his 20's, fit the description of a vehicle that had fled Bloomfield and Windsor police earlier that evening and was spotted by Hartford Police parked in the vicinity of 144 Kent Street. As the officer approached the vehicle it began to flee the scene striking the officer, landed him on the hood of the car. He was carried on the vehicle's until he fell to the ground in the vicinity of 136 Kent Street.
"All surrounding towns and the Connecticut State Police have been notified of the incident and vehicle/suspect description and registration, and the incident is under investigation by our Major Crimes Division", stated Hartford Police Chief Roberts at the briefing. "I personally visited the officer and his family at the hospital early this morning and can report that although he remains under observation, he is in stable condition. I am not releasing the identity of the officer at this time to protect his and his family's privacy", said Chief Roberts.
