HARTFORD POLICE CHARGE MODESTO REYES ON
NEW SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGES 

(Hartford) - Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Juvenile Investigative Division has served an arrest warrant on Modesto Reyes, 53, of Hartford, charging him in a second sexual assault investigation, prompted by a female juvenile victim claiming to have been sexually assaulted by Reyes from the Spring of 2005 to the Fall of 2005. 

The victim, a thirteen year old at the time of the sexual assaults, and her mother, reported the incidents to Hartford Police on November 13, 2007, and an immediate investigation was launched by detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Juvenile Investigative Division.  Subsequently, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Reyes' on December 13th, 2007, charging him with three counts of sexual assault in the second degree, one count of sexual assault in the fourth degree, and four counts of risk of injury to a minor.  Reyes was served with the arrest warrant this afternoon in Hartford Superior Court and will be arraigned on Monday, December 17th, 2007.  Reyes is currently in custody awaiting sentencing on a previous sexual assault case detailed below.

Reyes was arrested by Hartford Police on June 15th, 2006, on charges that he sexually assaulted an eleven year old female who subsequently gave birth to a child.  Reyes recently pleaded guilty to charges stemming from that investigation and court case.
